Reginald Easterwood AKA Dalima, was born July 24, 1981 in Kansas City, KS to Sharon and Robert Easterwood. Robert Easterwood is a Kansas City Guitar Legend, who passed his passion for music to Reginald “ Dalima” Easterwood. Robert Easterwood began teaching Reginald (Reggie) how to play drums at the age 2; this is where it all started. By age 12 Reggie was playing drums in church, several marching bands and local venues with his father’s band. To this date he has been playing close to 20 years and has no reason to look back.
At age 8, Reggie took to hip hop and began writing rhymes to form what would soon be great entertainment in school lunch rooms and talent shows. Amazingly, with all this talent he had still fallen short of an alias that would fit his style and define his character. In 1997 while taken under the wings of two Kansas City producers, Keith and Kevin Ford, aka One Identity, this eager MC would soon find his identity as well. After meeting TechN9ne at the studio where he recorded, Tech asked Reggie to rap to see if he had the gift of rhyme. Once he completed his flow Tech asked if he had a ‘name’, which he didn’t. Impressed by Reggie’s talent, Tech assumed responsibility of finding a name to fit his style. Two days later, Tech9 comes to the studio, points to Reggie and says “Dalima.” From that point Reggie declared himself Dalima.
Dalima has truly been able to live up to the expectation of being a lyrical problem for other rappers. Dalima has rapid fire lyrics , witty word play and diversification of songs that, not only appeal to the Kansas City people, but rap and hip hop listeners across of the U.S. He has been featured with TechN9ne on M.L.K. (Misery Loves Kompany) and Everready The Religion on the hit song “Welcome to my World” a song was originally set to feature Eminem. After receiving such great response from the hit song , Dalima was in a perfect position to launch his solo career. Dalima’s first solo album “The Hangover” was truly a breakthrough that established his original yet versatile sound as the next Midwest Icon. Dalima has worked with many hip hop legends, both artists and producers, whom have played a major role in his development as a hip hop artist/musician.
